Welcome to the Panda Garden and the Plum Tree restaurants’ website! The Panda Garden (1500 W. 6th St., Lawrence, KS) was first opened in 1986 by Lucy White and her two brothers, Joe and Gene Peng. Due to the success of the Panda Garden, the Peng family opened the Plum Tree (2620 Iowa St., Lawrence, KS) in 1989. The two restaurants' menus now feature some of the Midwest’s finest Chinese cuisine. Our restaurants have serviced Lawrence and its neighboring areas for almost twenty years and have been voted Best Chinese restaurants of Lawrence for nearly half of those years. While we offer casual sit-in dining as well as to-go and delivery services, our restaurants also have banquet room facilities for your special family, organization, and company events. We also do on-site catering in your home, office, or chosen facility. We are happy to accommodate your specific culinary requests and catering needs.

Our family’s restaurants feature a variety of over sixty delicious Chinese dishes as well as several select Thai dishes and American food. Food-lovers are certain to find something they like. Our menu includes all the well-known favorites like Egg Rolls, Crab Rangoons, Fried Meat Dumplings, Young Chow Lo Mein Noodles, General Tso’s Chicken, Moo Shu Pork, and Kung Pao Beef, just to name a few. We even have our own House Specialty dishes that represent the more traditional Chinese cuisine such as Cha Sha Bau pork buns, Ginger Duck, Ma Po Tofu, Zha Ja Mien Noodles as well as Peking Shrimp. Vegetarians will find no lack of choices as our restaurants accommodate their needs by offering vegetarian versions for almost all our items. Children will be delighted with our French Fries, Chicken Nuggets, and Sweet & Sour Chicken. The Plum Tree menu also includes American items like KC Strip Steak, Fried Chicken, and fresh garden salad.
